From The Wild: 2026 Appraisals Part 1

Dr Scholl’s:
Dr. Scholl’s was founded in 1904. In the 1920’s is when his foot powders hit the market. This IS the very first tin of Dr. Scholl’s foot Powder. As usual, the firsts are ALWAYS worth the most.

Black Forest Hunter Carving:
German Black Forest carvings are best known on Cuckoo Clocks, HOWEVER, the artist that carve them for the clocks, OFTEN make other carvings for friends, family, and tourists. This forest deer hunter is a PERFECT example.

Carved Mother of Pearl Box:
Small wood boxes with Mother of Pearl accents are EVERYWHERE, and even fully carved Mother of Pearl boxes are out there, and only getting more desirable, as they are getting rarer and rarer. That said, people seem to LOVE to chuck them in their garage sales for a buck or two.

Sterling Perfume Bottle:
It doesn’t take long for sterling silver to tarnish and turn an ugly black, sometimes only a few years. Because of this, most people just toss heavily tarnished pieces in with that they believe to be other cheapie items. The savvy picker however can spot a high end piece 1000 miles away. A seller tossed in a jewelry box full of what they called junky costume jewelry with a larger purchase we made. Along with other missed pieces, I IMMEDIATELY spotted this antique Sterling Double Sided Perfume Bottle. Had to spend a minute cleaning the tarnish off, but it will be WELL WORTH IT!

Vintage Micro Mosaic Pill Box:
Micro Mosaic Brooches, Pins, Pill Boxes, etc. for a long time were pretty easy to find out in the wild. Now with more and more people making and watching reels and educational videos, people are FOR SURE catching on to the many treasures they once thought were cheap junk. Micro Mosaics are DEFINITELY one of those items!

NAPCO Lady Head Vase:
Porcelain Lady Head Vases have been a rage with collectors for quite some time now. These vases are hard to find in mint condition, and OFTEN have a crack somewhere, a chip, a missing finger, etc. You may find this hard to believe, but when we do find them, it’s usually in households that cave cats, and you know how cats like to knock things off of shelves. You WILL find these at garage sales, but you have to have a CAREFUL eye, because typically they are getting rid of them because a cat knocked it off a shelf, broke it, and rendered it near worthless.
